The mission statement of our church is “Blessed by God to serve others.” Mission statements are worthless if they are just statements without action. We want to bless others, and we do that by financial and practical support of several organizations and individuals.
(1) Our local mission partner is Urban Ventures Leadership Foundation. We support Urban Ventures financially and by offering opportunities for volunteering in their many community development programs. For more information go to: www.urbanventures.org.
(2) Our domestic mission partner is Youth With A Mission, and the work of a woman (who wishes to remain nameless) who works with immigrants from Somalia. She works in helping these immigrants assimilate and settle into their new homeland. She does this in many practical ways, but also and lives a life that reflects the person of Jesus. For more information go to: http://www.ywamnorthwoods.org/
(3) Our international partner is Talking Bibles International. Talking Bibles produces digital listening devices that look like a Bible, and contain a complete recording of the New Testament. These “Bibles” are available in 11 major world languages. They are designed to make the Word of God available to the illiterate, the blind, and made so large groups can together hear the Bible being “read” in their own language. For more information go to: www.talkingbibles.org.
(4) We also support outreach to our own community. We have defined our “Impact Area” and are working hard to bless that specific area. We offer a summer Vacation Bible School, activities for men at the local sportsmen’s club, Classic Car shows, garage sales, car washes, outdoor concerts, and currently are working on the design and installation of a Silver Creek playground. And finally, we offer “hands on” opportunities to serve others with organizations like Simpson Men’s Shelter and Feed My Starving Children in Minneapolis.
