About the Tempe Area
If you're looking for a city with character, then Tempe is for you. Like Chandler and other Phoenix area cities, Tempe has grown rapidly over the last two decades. But Tempe has a funkier image and feel than many other Valley cities.

Arizona State University has a lot to do with that, occupying 700 acres in the heart of Tempe with its 47,000 students. You’ll see many of them on the legendary Mill Avenue, home to everything from local bars to gourmet restaurants to Broadway shows at ASU’s Gammage Auditorium. Tempe Town Lake and Tempe Beach Park make Mill Avenue a big destination for folks from all over.
Tempe’s list of attractions is a long one. The Anaheim Angels have spring training here, the Phoenix Zoo is in Tempe, there are six gorgeous golf courses, and the Fall and Spring Festival of the Arts each bring in 250,000 people.

Tempe also hosts the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl at ASU’s Sun Devil Stadium, which is the national championship game every four years!
Tempe is home to only 4% of the state’s population, but is home to 15% of Arizona’s high tech companies. Motorola and Honeywell each have major Tempe facilities, while ASU and U.S. Airways are Tempe’s two largest employers.
