City of Phoenix / Overview and Homes
The City of Phoenix, with about 1.6 Million residents, is at the very center of the Phoenix Metroplex, and offers a wide variety of housing options. If you're looking for a Phoenix Home, a Phoenix Condo, or any kind of Phoenix Real Estate, then let me help you find it.
Phoenix is changing! About 10 years ago, the Phoenix City Council launched a series of renovation projects for Downtown Phoenix. One early project was Copper Square, which includes the Phoenix Civic Plaza (conventions and trade shows), US West Arena (home of the Phoenix Suns), and Chase Field (home of the Arizona Diamondbacks).
But that was just the beginning. As momentum built, more and more projects were started, including a number of hotel, office, condo, retail, and mixed-use developments. In 2005, Arizona State University announced that it would establish its second major campus in Downtown Phoenix. Ultimately, this campus will be home to 15,000 students. Also, a Light Rail Mass Transit System is now being built. Light Rail will connect the Central Avenue corridor, Downtown Phoenix, Sky Harbor International Airport, and Downtown Tempe (the location of Arizona State University's Main Campus.) The first segment of Light Rail will open in 2008.
Looking for outdoor fun? South Mountain Park, at 16,500 acres, is the largest municipal park in the country. It offers an abundance of desert trails ideal for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking, and is located just a few miles south of Downtown Phoenix.
Downtown Phoenix is now becoming one of the city's hot residential areas. There are a variety of Condo and Loft projects now available (some are renovations, others are new construction), and most of them are right in Downtown Phoenix, or just a few short blocks away. Some examples include:
Artisan Lofts on Central: 40 residences in Downtown Phoenix starting at $325K (resales).
Artisan Lofts on Osborn: A "sister" development a few blocks Northeast of Downtown, also 40 units, also starting at $325K (resales).
The Summit at Copper Square: a 22 story high rise Condo development located in Downtown Phoenix, with 157 units starting at $500K.
44 Monroe: Another planned high rise Condo development in Downtown Phoenix (new construction).
Metro Lofts is a planned high rise project located a few miles north of Downtown Phoenix.
But that's not all. There are lots of other great residential neighborhoods in the City of Phoenix. For example, the area north of the Central Avenue Corridor (north of Central and Camelback) has a wide variety of older single family homes and condos. The Camelback Road Corridor (Camelback between 16th and 44th Streets) has a number of hot condo projects in a wide variety of styles and price ranges.
Looking for something upscale? The Biltmore Estates, located just north of Biltmore Fashion Park (Camelback and 24th Street), has a variety of housing styles in its subdivisions. You can find condos and townhomes starting at about $400K, or beautiful single family homes right on the fairways of the Biltmore Country Club.
The Arcadia District, in Northeast Phoenix, is another beautiful residential area. Arcadia was once covered in citrus groves, and many of the homes there have orange, lemon, and other citrus trees in their yards. And Arcadia is well situated, right between Downtown Scottsdale's Shopping and Restaurant District and the Camelback Road Corridor. Arcadia features a mix of old and new single family homes, many on very large lots.
One more area to consider is Desert Ridge. Located in far North Phoenix (at Tatum Boulevard and the 101 Freeway), Desert Ridge features very affordable townhomes, condos, and single family homes located around and near the brand-new Desert Ridge Marketplace.
