Glendale is rapidly becoming the commercial center of the West Valley. Its population has grown to 350,000, making it the 4th largest city in Arizona (after Phoenix, Tucson, and Mesa).
Glendale has lots to offer. Are you interested in antiques and collectables? If so, Historic Downtown Glendale (including the Old Towne gaslight district and the more residential Catlin Court) is a great place to spend the afternoon. In January, the downtown area is home to the annual Glendale Glitter and Glow Festival.
How about sports? Glendale is the home of the Arizona Cardinals NFL Football team and the Phoenix Coyotes NHL Hockey team. The ultra-modern, air-conditioned Cardinals Stadium will be open in September, 2006, for the start of the football season. And, yes, Glendale's Cardinals Stadium will host the 2008 Super Bowl.
Glendale is also home to Luke Air Force Base, which is the world's largest fighter pilot training facility.
The Arrowhead Mall is a brand-new shopping complex with more than 170 shops and restaurants.
