Fountain Hills  /  Overview and Homes

News Flash: The May, 2006 issue of Phoenix Magazine named Fountain Hills as the Best Place to Live (rated #1 out of 22 municipalities) in the Phoenix Metroplex! (rating based on home prices, crime rates, tax rates, 10th grade math and reading test scores, student / teacher ratios, and other "quality of life" factors).
Fountain Hills is one of those towns that is a little quieter, a little "farther out," and a little closer to the desert than the cities that make up the core of the Phoenix Metroplex. A town of 22,500 people, Fountain Hills is located in the far northeast corner of the Valley of the Sun. Fountain Hills sits in the McDowell Mountain foothills, and, at an elevation of 1700 feet, it's generally 5-10 degrees cooler than the main part of the Phoenix Metroplex.

Looking for your Arizona Dream Home? You can find it in Fountain Hills, which offers a wide variety of choices, including townhomes, condos, and single family homes with beautiful views of the McDowell and Superstition Mountains.

Fountain Hills was developed (beginning in 1970) around a breathtaking water fountain which sits in the middle of a 28 acre lake. The fountain shoots a geyser of water 300 feet into the air (or 560 feet for special celebrations, which is higher than the Washington Monument!) The adjacent Town Center offers lots of shopping and restaurants, and hosts two of the largest art festivals in the area: the Arts and Crafts Festival in November, and the Great Fair in February. Each fair attracts more than 100,000 visitors.

Recreation is close by. Just north, the McDowell Mountain Regional Park offers hiking, mountain biking, and other activities. Farther north is Saguaro Lake (part of a chain of lakes and dams) which offers world class boating, fishing, jet-skiing, and other activities. In the spring, you can float down the Salt River with hundreds of others (bring your raft or inner tube).

Like Gambling? The Fort McDowell Casino (on the Fort McDowell Indian Reservation), one of the first and largest casinos in the area, is just around the corner.

Or how about Golf? Eagle Mountain, SunRidge Canyon, Fire Rock, and CopperWynd all offer championship golf and many other amenities, and homesites with great views of the mountains and the surrounding cities.
