Ahwatukee Foothills / Overview and Homes
Ahwatukee Foothills is actually part of the City of Phoenix, but because it is separated from the main body of Phoenix (by South Mountain Park), it has maintained its unique identity and "feel". Ahwatukee is located just south and east of South Mountain Park, and its diverse communities now total 85,000 people.
Why do people love Ahwatukee? Access to South Mountain Park is just one reason. This park, the largest municipal park in the nation, offers mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking trails in a spectacular Sonoran Desert setting.
Another reason people love Ahwatukee is the wide variety of housing choices, including condos, townhomes, and single family homes. Ahwatukee has a number of excellent master planned communities. Most of these communities feature clubhouses, swimming pools, tennis courts, green belts, hike and bike trails, and beautiful views. For example, The Foothills of Ahwatukee is a 4100 acre master planned community that includes an 18-hole Golf course. Within The Foothills are a number of high-end gated communities, such as Black Rock Canyon, Eagle Ridge, and Sanctuary.
Mountain Park Ranch is another popular master planned community. Looking for waterfront living? Check out Lakewood in Mountain Park Ranch. Lakewood is a small community that offers views of both foothills and lakes.
Access to Shopping is another plus for Ahwatukee. Ahwatukee has its own growing commercial district, and Chandler Fashion Center, the Chandler Pavilions, and the cities of Tempe and Mesa are close by.
And, of course, there's plenty of Golf and Gambling close by (the Gila River Indian Community operates 3 Casino-Resorts near Ahwatukee).
